Špela’s previous experience involves several years working on monoclonal antibody and vaccine discovery projects spanning virology and malaria targets in the Infectious Diseases & Vaccines group, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation within a biotechnology company called Kymab Ltd. Prior to that she worked at the Wellcome Sanger Institute tracing the origins and evolution of several epidemic virus outbreaks. She completed her degree in Slovenia, working on Hantavirus tissue infection patterns and their effects on community transmission of the virus.

At RQ Bio, Špela applies her drug discovery and infectious disease expertise to developing monoclonal antibody based therapies to help vulnerable patients at risk from current and future viral infections.
